Hon. Michael Yabsley

Michael Yabsley is based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and is responsible for a portfolio of commercial, political and philanthropic interests.

In an honorary capacity Michael was Federal Treasurer of the Liberal Party of Australia 2008-2010, Chair of the Leaders' Round Table and a member of the Party's Federal Executive. He was Treasurer of the Liberal Party of Australia (NSW Division) from 1996-2001, during which time he established and Chaired the Millennium Forum. He established and Chaired the Wentworth Forum from 2007-2009.

Michael played a key role in restructuring of the European Australian Business Council (EABC) and he remains a member of the EABC Corporate Council.

He was Chair of the Winifred West Schools Foundation until 2009.

Michael advises many cultural and community organisations in relation to their fundraising and political needs. 

Michael was a Member of New South Wales Parliament from 1984 until 1994 and during that time was a Minister in theNSW Coalition Government led by Nick Greiner.

He was elected to the seat of Bligh in 1984 and in 1986 became Shadow Minister for Corrective Services.  In 1988, Michael was elected to the seat of Vaucluse.

From 1988 until 1992, he held the portfolios of Corrective Services, State Development, Tourism and Assistant Roads.  From 1992 until his retirement from politics, he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Premie, John Fahey AC.

Michael has served as the Liberal Party’s corporate fundraiser in NSW from 1999 to 2003 and as Chairman of the Millennium Forum.

Michael is married to Susie.  They have two children, Edward (born 1988) and Alexandra (born 1994).  Their home is “Wombat Hollow” near Bowral in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.  His corporate office is Level 7, 8 Spring Street, Sydney  NSW  2000.
